How Far Can Palm Trees Be Trimmed On Top (Phoenix, AZ)?

Cutting my palm trees again and hopefully they don’t grown back in less than a month. We will see, right. Sometimes owning a house just isn’t worth it. Today is September, 30th and I had 3 of 6 palms cut back. The purpose in this post is to see if anyone knows how far these trees can actually be cut back. My palm cutter claimed that this is far back as I should cut my palms. He said any further and I risk killing them. At first I thought he was full of shit, but after speaking to a few people it started to make sense. Now I’m simply looking for clarification. Also, does anyone know when palm trees should be cut in Phoenix, AZ? I usually cut mine 2 times a year, but have no specific month that the work is done in. Any advice would help.

November 6th update
After further review, these palm trees have been cut correctly. They shouldn’t be cut back any further than pictured above. So if you need your palms cut in Arizona, show these pictures to you service provider as an example of a very short cut that works.

Palm Trees – Out of Control

I am having a problem with my palm trees. They are located in Phoenix, AZ and are shedding everywhere. I had them cut in May, and 2 months later they are back. Does that make any sense? Can anyone tell me how to control the brown branches ( I guess they are palms)? My dog is possibly allergic to what is falling down, and that’s becoming a huge issue. They have never been this bad. I’m wondering if cutting them in May was a huge mistake. Any advice?

Summer Bermuda Grass – Phoenix Arizona

Due to the current recession, I have added “Lawn Engineer” to my current job titles at the home. In doing so, I have found that Bermuda grass is a S.O.B..

In my estimation, there are two “types” of weeds (if they are actually deemed weeds). Weed number one (pictured below) is obviously a weed, but I am not familiar with its kind. What I am trying to do is figure out how to rid of it and what causes it to grow. This lawn is in Phoenix, Arizona. I have considered putting Scotts Lawn Turf on it, but due to the heat restrictions, I am hesitant.

Weed number two (pictured below) might not actually be a weed. I am actually trying to clarify this. I have heard that when Bermuda gets long, this is what it looks like. However, I am not 100% convinced. If anyone has any insight into this, please advise.

Once the lawn is cut (pictured below) it looks next to perfect, minus a small batch of weeds I named “weed one” above.
